3D large-scale numerical model of open-pit lake slope stability—case study of Lake Most

چکیده
Almost all post-exploitation open pit mines in the world are shaped as a final water reservoir. One of main hazards is slope stability lake banks. To develop reliability methodology for assessing long-term flooded open-pit lake, back analysis was conducted using 2D and 3D large-scale numerical models Lake Most, which one largest mining lakes Europe (Czech Republic). The model built, based on site observations, large scale LiDAR data, situ characterisation tests, statistical geotechnical DTMs defining complex geology numerous piezometric levels to build table. Local global safety factor (SF) were calculated strength reduction method. results highlighted combine geometric with geological create model, identify local potentially instable zones, highlight role weak contact layer. calculation SF has shown very good correlation between lowest ground movement observations noted by Czech authorities.

A 3D Hydrodynamic Lake Model: Simulation on Great Slave Lake
Large lakes are recognized as an important influence on the circulation of the atmosphere; in return the resulting meteorological forcing also affects the lake thermal structure. This interaction is complex and continues to be a critical issue considering the millions of lakes in Canada, many of which are large, and are unaccounted for in the current climatic models. This paper evaluates the pr...
متن کاملSimulation of Groundwater Fluxes during Open-pit Filling and under Steady State Pit Lake Conditions
A critical component in determining post-mining pit water quality is knowledge of groundwater fluxes, both as the pit fills and after steady state conditions have been reached. Simulations of the filling of an open pit in Crescent Valley, Nevada, were made to generate inputs for pit lake chemistry predictions. The simulations show that the water table recovery is most rapid immediately after pu...
متن کاملAnalysis of Large-scale Displacement Using Radar Interferometry Technology in Open-pit Mines (Case Study: Gol Gohar Sirjan Mine)
Abstract Mines with their displacements cause damage to infrastructure and land, so it is important to control the displacement caused by mines. Also, the amount of minerals extracted from mines has always been of interest to managers. On the other hand, radar interferometry, given the production of repetitive and full images and the acceptable accuracy of this method, in examining be sugge...
متن کاملEffects of geometrical and geomechanical properties on slope stability of open-pit mines using 2D and 3D finite difference methods
Slope stability analysis is one of the most important problems in mining and geotechnical engineering. Ignoring the importance of these problems can lead to significant losses. Selecting an appropriate method to analyze the slope stability requires a proper understanding of how different factors influence the outputs of the analyses. This paper evaluates the effects of considering the real geom...
متن کاملFormation of a deep pit lake: case study of Aguas Claras, Brazil
The paper presents the case study of the current formation of a Brazilian pit lake from an iron ore mining activity. The water used for the filling of the lake comes from rain, ground water and the complementary pumpage from a close river. At its final stage, which will be reached around year 2018, Lake Aguas Claras will have a surface area of 0.67 km2 and the depth of 234 m, which will make it...
